Cave of the Lakes

The cave is located at an altitude of 800 meters near Kastria village, on the provincial road Kleitoria - Kalavryta. The speleological research has shown that it is the bed of an underground river (2100m. length). The cave got its name from the lakes that have formed inside on a three levels scale. Findings like fireplaces, successive floors, ceramics and tools reveal continuous but not uninterrupted use of the cave from the Neolithic to the Late Bronze Age. In the cave there is a tunnel and bridges and with adequate lighting, you will have the opportunity to admire the hidden, underground beauties. There are lodges, underground labyrinths, stalactites and stalagmites at 1980 m. Although they have been explored, only the 500 m. can be visited.
